THE PACKAGING SPECIFICATION NOTEBOOK / Design the whole system

Reuse begins with a defined next job.

A used industrial box needs an assessment of its actual condition and the requirements of its next contents.

Document its history where known

Record previous contents, storage and visible damage. Keep uncertain history explicit. Separate wet, contaminated or damaged pieces instead of describing a mixed lot by its best example.

Ask about the proposed next use

Give the receiver the actual dimensions, construction evidence and intended handling. A prior successful trip is not approval for a different load. Require the receiving party’s acceptance before arranging a move.

Plan the material route

Where reuse is unsuitable, confirm local receiving requirements and separate unlike components. Avoid promising free collection or a particular material payment. The actual operator must confirm acceptance and terms.
