THE PACKAGING SPECIFICATION NOTEBOOK / Design the whole system

A box still needs a closing and opening plan.

The closure method belongs in the specification, especially when the package will be opened more than once.

Describe the packing sequence

Explain who closes the package, which equipment is available and whether contents can be inspected before closure. Ask the supplier for instructions appropriate to the proposed box and transport conditions.

Record any reopening requirement

Tell the supplier if customs, quality control or the customer may need access. Discuss how the package is reclosed and which components are replaced. An improvised repair should not become an undocumented design.

Design the receiving handoff

Include safe opening and item-removal information supplied by the responsible designer. Keep sharp tools and sensitive product surfaces in mind when reviewing access. Verify the final instructions with the packer.

Technical context: FedEx · preparing boxes for freight ↗. This note prepares a specification conversation. Confirm the actual design and shipping requirements with the responsible supplier and carrier.

Keep building the brief.
