THE PACKAGING SPECIFICATION NOTEBOOK / Follow the handling

The package changes hands before it arrives.

Write down the pickup, carrier and receiving conditions that the design must accommodate.

Describe the first lift

Tell the supplier where the package will be staged and how it will be loaded. Record equipment, access and any orientation constraints. Include dimensions and weight of the final packed system once known.

Confirm carrier instructions

Review the current carrier’s packaging and freight requirements for the actual shipment. Ask about any service-specific constraints. General guidance helps frame questions but does not replace booking-specific acceptance.

Reconfirm the destination

Check unloading equipment and the receiving appointment with the recipient. Keep private access instructions out of public descriptions. Update the brief when the load or route changes.

Technical context: FedEx · freight packing guidance ↗. This note prepares a specification conversation. Confirm the actual design and shipping requirements with the responsible supplier and carrier.
