THE PACKAGING SPECIFICATION NOTEBOOK / Follow the handling

The destination may not have your equipment.

A good packaging enquiry names the receiving constraints early.

Ask about the final unloading step

Confirm available equipment, access and the intended place to stage the package. Tell the carrier and packaging provider about constraints that may affect handling. A delivery address alone does not describe the handoff.

Keep the packed system realistic

Give final packed dimensions and weight once confirmed. Discuss whether the proposed base and enclosure work with the agreed unloading method. Do not assume a recipient can manually handle an industrial package.

Confirm before dispatch

Record the receiving arrangement and contact process in the shipment documents. If equipment or access changes, ask the responsible parties to review the plan before the load leaves.
